From the first product, Russian Root which now is a generic name for the adaptogen eleutherococcus senticosus, Swedish Herbal Institute has developed and launched the first, second and third generation adaptogen products.

To be able to do this, constant research is needed for further development and understanding of how active substances act and interact in the body. In order to have full control over the quality of the products we have all production in-house. This means that we even produce the basic extracts from the raw materials themselves.
Swedish Herbal Institute was founded 1969 by the researcher Georg Wikman as a result of his genuine interest in the medical usage of plants. Since then, the company has launched several of the most trusted brands on the Swedish market within Cold & Flu (Kan Jang) as well as the adaptogen-based segments within Energy and Anti-stress (Chisan, Arctic Root, Adapt Lugn and Femineral).
